Understanding letters in printer models and acronyms

Letter/Acronym Meaning
B or BT Printer has Bluetooth functionality
C/M/B Printer can print in color. Contrastingly, Monochrome printers or printers that only print in Black, may be marked with an 'M' or a 'B'
D Printer has Duplex functionality and can print on both sides of paper.
F Printer has Fax functionality
W Wireless: Wi-Fi connectivity. It means that the printer can print wirelessly from mobile devices and computers
MFP/MFC Multi-functional. Printer can scan, copy, and possibly fax
N Printer has network capability and can connec to other devices on the same network
S Stacker or Stapler. Stacker means a section where the printed paper is stacked. Stapler can staple printed paper together
ADF Automatic Document Feeder - picks up multiple pages and feeds them into printer
CMYK Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black
DPI Dots Per Inch. DPI measures the resolution quality of print
PPM Pages per minute - speed measurement in which a printer can print standard letter pages of text in monochrome per minute
